Paulaner Salvator double bock is a bottom-fermented beer and has been brewed in almost exactly the same way since the end of the 18th century. It combines the most delicate of hops and dark barley malt to give a strong, characteristically malty taste and an inviting, gleaming copper colour.
The Paulaner monks served Salvator of Lent as a meal replacement. The most famous brewer was Brother Barnabas, who took over the Paulaner brewery in 1773. His original recipe is still not changed. To protect the original, in 1896 Paulaner had the trade mark “Salvator” registered with the Patent Office.
