This single vineyard site is located at a height of 1200 masl in the Alto Agrelo region of Luján de Cuyo, Mendoza. Here, the alluvial soil surrounded by large boulders, has good drainage, limestone and low organic material which produces wines with greater concentration of flavours. Due to the wide temperature range in this area, the grapes ripen slowly. All grapes are harvested by hand in April and fermented in small cement vats, which makes it possible to obtain softer tannins. The wines is aged in fine grain French oak barrels for 18 - 24 months to achieve its unique and subtle aromas.
Cadus Single Vineyard Finca Las Torcazas Malbec is deep dense purple in colour with a rich spicy plum, black berry nose, along with notes of violet, spice, vanilla and cedar. Powerful ripe red fruit mixed with prunes and and more sweet vanilla from the oak, with liquorice and dark chocolate on the finish. The wine has a lovely rich palate weight, with balanced grainy tannins carried by some welcome acidity. This is a wine that will age for a decade or more.
Drink with roasted lamb, red meats, and the perfect match to the traditional "empanadas" from Argentina (home made meat pies). Or perfect as a comforting, fireside wine.
