The old vines grow in Portlandian limestone soils, on a south-east facing slope. After manual harvesting, the Sauvignon Blanc grapes are vinified and the wine aged in 600 litre wooden casks for over one year on fine lees before bottling.
Domaine du Pre Semele Sancerre Le Cotelin is a layered and concentrated style of Sancerre, with the influence of the south-facing slopes really being felt in the ripe citrus fruit. Some herbaceousness provides interest whilst the palate feels pleasantly weighty. Interesting, rich and complex without losing the lift and elegance of Sauvignon from this appellation.
