In August 1982, late founder Tony Allen opened Oak Brewery on an industrial estate in Ellesmere Port. After much success, he moved nine years later to a location more central to his trading areas. Phoenix Brewery, Heywood!
Phoenix Brewery was registered in 1874, brewing directly from the Brewery tower and owning over 100 pubs in the local area. Phoenix’s history is still proudly displayed on their seven-story tower.
West Coast IPA has a classic Phoenix Brewery recipe that has stood the test of time. This is a strong golden pale coloured beer with a good, sweet malt backbone. Brewed with classic American hops to bring a pleasing crisp bitterness to this well balanced brew. West Coast IPA is the Head Brewer’s personal favourite – describing it as thirst quenching and delicious (if he does say so himself).
