Kovács Nimród Winery – a fantastical sounding name which is making a name for itself in Hungary... If you Google 'Nimród', you're presented with a mixed bag of definitions including a skilful hunter, the great-grandson of Noah, and a sky plane but you can now add to this a world-class winery located in Eger, one of Hungary’s most premium wine regions.
Today, owner Nimród Kovács, a retired international businessman and philanthropist, has resurrected this wine house and guided by this tradition, continues to make wine in a similar way, albeit aided by 21st century technology.
Kovács Nimród Unoaked Chardonnay wine is a fresh and crispy chardonnay, sourced from vineyards near Noszvaj, North Hungary. After crushing, berries were gently pressed and then settled in tank. The alcoholic fermentation took place in stainless steel tank.
This crisp unoaked Chardonnay has gentle stone fruit and lemon notes, medium body and a a long elegant finish. Perfect with light and delicate food such as crab and prawns or grilled fish. Also pairs well with risotto with spring vegetables or creamy vegetable soups.
