A classic Greco from Campania - the benefit of a fantastic vineyard site and long lees ageing gives it complexity.
The Greco grapes are sourced from a 550m altitude 1.3 hectare vineyard in Altavilla Irpina. Vines here are guyot trained in sandy-silt soils with dark clay streaks. Grapes are harvested at the start of October and are whole bunch pressed, followed by fermentation with selected yeasts in stainless steel. The wine spends 12 months on fine lees in stainless steel, and a further 12 months in bottle.
Villa Raiano Ponte dei Santi Greco di Tufo has savoury and nutty aromas with notes of ripe stone fruit, citrus and a hint of white spice. The palate is taut and linear, with an appealing minerality and saline acidity balancing lightly honeyed fruit leading to a long, savoury, crisp finish.
Perfect with seafood, or perhaps grilled sea bass or sole. Also a good match for simple tomato and mozzarella pasta dishes.
