Lochlea was a cattle farm when originally acquired it in 2006. Extending some 222 acres it was realised that for a farm of that size to be viable something very different had to be done. Lochlea is also the only distillery in the world who can rightfully claim that Robert Burns himself lived and worked here. He spent his formative years from 1777-1784 at Lochlea.
Lochlea Ploughing Edition First Crop is the first peated expression, matured in ex-Islay barrels and peated quarter casks, inspired by winter on the farm, when fields are ploughed in preparation for spring. Lochlea have created a warming, smoky version of their signature Lochlea whisky, with an icy blue label that reflects the cold and frosty Ayrshire winters.
