100% Pinot Noir from 3 vineyards in Tasman, Upper Moutere and Ruby Bay. Mostly handpicked and destemmed grapes that we process in open fermenters. Following délestage twice a day for about 3 weeks to ensure a gentle extraction of colour and tannins, the grapes are pressed, and a portion will then go into barrels and puncheons where the wine will spend the next 10 months of its life. Topped regularly, the malolactic fermentation happens when the winery warms up in spring. When the wine is ready, we filter the wine and bottle.
Heaphy Pinot Noir is a gently perfumed and characterful wine, expressive of Nelson’s unique breezy and warm terroir. A well-balanced profile, showing plenty of fruit, energy, and desired juiciness.
