What is Mead? Mead is an alcoholic drink of fermented honey and water! However, not all meads are created in the same manner. Known as the drink of the Gods and in modern memory, associated with the Vikings, mead is now also produced using base alcohol, white wine or sugar syrup, with honey added at a later stage.
Thrúd is the daughter of Thor and the Goddess Sif in Norse mythology. Her name means ‘Power’.
Fitting, as the second of our hopped meads, she was born from our ‘Thor’ recipe which uses Citra hops. This mead is a ‘Metheglin’ (herbed honey mead), using Blossom honey.
It has Bramling Cross hops added after the fermentation process. This gives it a light, hoppy flavour with a dark fruit edge. Suitable for those who like fruity drinks but still want to taste the mead.
