Lochlea was a cattle farm when originally acquired it in 2006. Extending some 222 acres it was realised that for a farm of that size to be viable something very different had to be done. Lochlea is also the only distillery in the world who can rightfully claim that Robert Burns himself lived and worked here. He spent his formative years from 1777-1784 at Lochlea.
Lochlea Cask Strength Batch 1 is the first in a series of annual limited-edition bottlings. Each batch will be bottled straight from the casks without water, like trying samples from the warehouse itself! Master Blender John Campbell and the team at Lochlea have chosen Bourbon and Sherry casks this time and every year will show further progression of their whisky. Despite the very limited volume available in each country, the few who manage to secure a bottle will experience a true undiluted and unfiltered window into Lochlea whisky.
