Soumah of the Yarra Valley is a producer of fine wines from the region. A hidden gem located down a country lane, in the dress circle of the cool Warramate foothills of Gruyere. Soumah set out to make wine with the charm of northern Italy but the provenance of the Yarra Valley. Situated an average of 120 metres above sea level, the vineyard is elevated above the valley floor. The ancient sandy-clay loams with broken sandstone shape the small yield and define the detail in these precise, focused expressions.

An ancient green-skinned, tight-bunched variety that was first recorded in the 10th century, Savagnin is rarely found in Australian wine-growing regions but it suits the cool climate of the Yarra Valley perfectly. Gently picked then cool tank and barrel fermented to retain fresh aromatics and aged on lees for good texture.

Soumah of the Yarra Valley Savarro Savagnin wine is a lovely straw colour with a citrus orange blossom and white flower bouquet. A textured lemon and lime palate with chalky mineral notes finishing with trademark subliminal spice and fine acidity. Pan fried calamari with gremolata or grilled zucchini, feta and pine nut salad with a squeeze of fresh lemon work beautifully with this wine.
